My Cover Letter

Marisa Scattone

April 21,2011.

I am writing to you to express my interest in applying for a full time teaching position at your school board.  As shown on my curriculum vitae, the end of the 2011 summer semester will mark the end of my designated program of study.  With that said, I would be available to start my teaching career in Education (English specialization) immediately.

I am confident that my academic background and work experience will make me a strong asset to your school board.  Throughout the course of my undergraduate program at McGill University, I completed four internships; three of which were carried out at the secondary school level.  While it may appear as if my field experience was highly concentrated in one specific area, I also worked as therapist for autistic children and a daycare educator.  My experience as a therapist has spawned an interest in helping children with special needs succeed and being able to work with diverse learning methods has helped me better appreciate the importance of specialized learning programs   At the same time, my experience as a daycare educator has provided me with an opportunity to work with younger children from different backgrounds and allowed me to tailor a variety of learning strategies to children with diverse needs.

All of this, coupled with my experience as a substitute teacher, has given me a broad exposure to the education system and has given me the versatility to adapt to different learning environments.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.  I thank you ahead of time for your consideration and I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Marisa Scattone
