My Teaching Philosophy

For many students of different ages school can be quite alarming, mainly because of the formal setting. Desks are placed in rows separated from each other, the teacher stands in front of the class and lectures for some 75 minutes. This gives a clear message that they are to be seated at their desks and listen quietly. Questions and Opinions may be expressed once the teacher has addressed them. As a teacher it will be my priority to reduce these learning barriers by establishing a classroom setting that will promote class participation. Students learn best when they are actively participating in the classroom, partly because the focus is not on learning. In order to do this it is essential that the students feel comfortable in the classroom environment. A pleasant, brightly colored and illuminated classroom environment can promote an easy feeling, consequently reducing any anxiety.  In addition, Work done by the students themselves will be displayed within the classroom. Hence, students will be able to look at their work proudly. It is crucial to make the  s/he has been abandoned by their teacher will surely loose all motivation. One of the most important things in the classroom is the bond between students and teacher. Trust and respect are the key elements to having some sort of discipline in the classroom without having a strict set of rules and consequences. And of course if students trust their teacher consider what she is saying. Of course exams are to be given, not only because the Ministry of education demands it, but also in order to witness the level at which the students have learned. In order to keep students interested, the subject matter must relate the students’ backgrounds and cultures. An evident link between the curriculum and society will make students realize that education is essential for a better future.

On a final note, being a teacher can be quite demanding. However, the joys of being a teacher are much greater, for example watching your students succeed.
